Packet Capture Tutorial

To run a packet capture and upload it here are some simple instructions;

1) Download Wireshark ~> http://www.wireshark.org/download.html

2) Install Wireshark (For Windows Vista and 7 right click the installer and click "Run as administrator")

3) Once it's installed close all other applications to begin a packet capture

4) Open Wireshark (For Windows Vista and 7 right click the installer and click "Run as administrator")

5) On the Wireshark interface click the Network Card;


5a) Alternately do this;
Click Capture, Interface, Start. (do not use the generic network card)

6) After capturing enough data (needed data size may vary depending on the issue). Click or Capture, Interface and Stop.

7) Click File followed by Save (save it to your Desktop)

8) Upload it too a file sharing host (i.e. Rapidshare, 2Shared or other)

9) Send it to the appropriate staff member (generally Adam or Brock in some cases myself or Venom).

If these steps are followed you will have just completed a packet capture.
